Welcome to the mid-year update from TransportLab at the University of Sydney.
We would love to meet you face-to-face, or you can follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Mastodon.
Events
TransportCamp
TransportCamp is returning to University of Sydney on 28 July (8:30 am-5:00 pm).
The TransportCamp Sydney ‘unconference’ will bring together transport professionals, researchers and technologists interested in how transport and technology can help improve mobility in urban environments. TransportCamp is a global phenomenon
Recent advances in technology—mobile apps, open source software, open data and spatial analysis—present an opportunity to improve mobility more immediately and at a lower cost than has ever been possible in the past.
TransportCamp raises awareness of this opportunity and builds connections and knowledge between the often siloed innovators in public administration, transport operations, urban planning and entrepreneurship.
It is the only event where the attendees set the agenda and collaborate to determine what are the key topics they want to hear about and discuss.
TransportLab Seminars
In addition to presentations from our PhD students, TransportLab Seminar series hosts speakers from all over the world. If you’d like to join the seminars in person or over Zoom, please contact Emily to join the list (emily.moylan@sydney.edu.au). Our recent speakers include:

We welcome Dr. Andrés Fielbaum to the group as a new lecturer in Civil Engineering. Andrés Fielbaum is a Mathematical Engineer and Ph.D. in Engineering Systems from Universidad de Chile. His main fields of research are public transport, transport networks, new transport technologies, and transport-related algorithms. Before joining us, he was a postdoc at the Autonomous Multi-Robots Lab at TU Delft from November 2019 to March 2023, analysing on-demand ridepooling systems.
Congratulations to Dr. Hema Rayaprolu for “satisfying the requirements for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Sydney.”
Thesis Title: "The Co-evolution of Public Transport Access and Ridership "
Lead Supervisor: Professor David Levinson.
